FEATURED LEADER
During July we honor George Washington Carver as an innovator and pioneer of American science. Carver was born into slavery yet became the first African American to earn a Bachelors of Science degree. He is credited with the creation of hundreds of products, and importantly developed and spread the practice of crop rotation across the South saving countless lives from starvation. Carver later went on to teach at Tuskegee University in Alabama where he established the agricultural school there. We remember George Washington Carver as a Black pioneer and visionary in American science.
